As a result, single-board computers can run Linux, Windows 10, and Android 5.0, allowing you to develop any operating system for your application.

All of this is included in the same credit card size package as the Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi. It uses the same 40-pin GPIO connector as the Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi development board (versions 1, 2 and 3) to further enhance the control flexibility and interchangeability of the UP Board.

UP Board performance is more powerful

If the original UP Board does not exactly match your specifications, the new UP2 offers a variety of different processor options including the latest Intel Atom®, Intel® Celeron® and Intel® Pentium® processor platforms (formerly Apollo Lake). In addition to improving CPU and GPU performance, the motherboard also gets:

The motherboard is 90 mm wide, while the Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi is 56.5 mm wide.

The motherboard is more compact

If space is limited and you can't squeeze out these extra millimeters, the UP core (Figure 3) may be better suited to your needs. It's smaller than a sticky note, but uses the same Intel Atom® x5-Z8350 processor as the original UP Board.

The main compromise is not to use a 40-pin Raspberry Pi connector. In this position, the UP core uses a compact 100-pin connector.

UP Board series real example

The UP Board series can be used in a variety of applications such as robots, drones, digital signage or IoT gateways. A good example is the Pioneer 3AT teleoperation mobile robot with the original UP Board. It uses the Robotic Operating System (ROS) for control and features mapping, motion planning, obstacle avoidance and other features not yet disclosed.
